The Patriot Guard Riders against Freak Reverend Phelps

We have a complete idiot living in Topeka, Kansas. This man has completely disgusted me for years. His name is Reverend Fred Phelps; his church, The Westboro Baptist Church (WBC). The majority of his congregants are related to him by blood. His wife, several of his children and dozens of his grandchildren frequent the church. The man is a complete freak who has, as far as I'm concerned, tortured mourning families since 1991. If you would like to see how twisted his clan is, check out his website.

The group was known for picketing the funerals of gay people or those they thought to be gay. In 1998, WBC congregants set off an angry reaction when they showed up at the funeral of gay murder victim Matthew Shepard, and held up signs reading "No Fags in Heaven" and "God Hates Fags." According to the WBC Web site, they have staged "over 22,000" protests across the nation and around the world since 1991.

Since the summer of 2005, they began picketing the funerals of U.S. soldiers who have died in Iraq and Afghanistan as a way of venting rage at a government that they believe is tolerant of homosexuality.

This is how the Patriot guard Riders came about. The WBC was at a funeral of a fallen soldier, picketing. They were holding signs and screaming, "GOD HATES FAGS, FAGS HATE GOD, AIDS CURES FAGS, THANK GOD FOR AIDS, FAGS BURN IN HELL, NO NOT MOCKED, FAGS ARE NATURE FREAKS, GOD GAVE FAGS UP, NO SPECIAL LAWS FOR FAGS, etc...
They were yelling at the mourning family how their son was a fag.

Some veterans went to that funeral and stood firm to guard the family from the crazed idiots. The Patriot guard Website:

Randy and I have joined. Since 2005 the Patriot guard Riders are 43, 414 strong. We will ride on our first mission to St. Joseph, Missouri for the services for a fallen soldier and then ride to Whitecloud, KS for the funeral on July 7th. We are expecting 300 riders. I certainly hope the WBC does not show up. If they do, I'll look that son-of-bitch Phelps dead in the eye, and lip, "I love fags!". Cuz I do.

Good for you, buy resist your urges (however justified!) and keep tight hold of the higher moral ground - dont let him pull you down to his level.
Have a good journey and a peaceful time :-)

Just when you think you've heard it all. What the heck does a soldiers funeral have to do with...
And people who hate gays really piss me off. God bless you for standing up for what you believe in.

I'm familiar with this Phelps blowhole. He was on tv years ago saying America was going to hell in a faggot handbasket. I remember thinking, "I wish we were". What a fine, stylish handbasket it would be. Colorfully decorated, with an attitude of tolerance towards all mankind. Oh, if only it were true, Rev. Phelps, if only it were true.

I think Phelps' real problem is that he himself is a closeted homosexual, for "he doth protest too much". It must be hard to be the patriarch of an incestuous renegade baptist family, constantly hating yourself and the rest of the world. Knowing inside that you would like nothing better than to park your member in another man's keister, and unable to do so (except with the odd grandchild here or there-ooh,that's bad Holly don't say that, oops! too late). Maybe we should feel sorry for him--NAHHH!!!! I feel sorry for the baptists he's giving a bad name to, and I never thought I would sorry for any baptist, anywhere, ever. Ah well. You rock on,Becky, with your big beautiful ta-ta's. I would tell you to wave the girls right in his face, but he'll probably be too busy staring at Randy's ass to notice!

love ya,
holly

I'm proud of you for having an opinion, for standing up against abuse, ignorance and prejudice, and, well, I'm proud of you mostly for who you are.

You're a damned fine human.

Okay. Now I'm caught up. We've got freaky psychos picketing funerals in our parts, so although they're sick and wrong for doing it, if you're ever in town PLEASE let me know! We should get together. Bring your sis, too. Got a sidecar?I don't have a motorcycle, but I'm sure Tom would rent one for the day. There was a picket in Kokomo a few months back, I think. Only a two hour drive from here.

Glad I got caught up. You're awesome.

this is just so crazy, how anybody can twist words and manipulate emotion to prove that black could be white (or green or blue depending on the whim)... it's disgraceful the way they manipulate the less articulate to push their own agendas...

good to see you are able to do something about it... keep up the good work...
